Mad Persona Magazine will be accepting stories, poems, and artwork from January 1st to February 1st 2026 for Issue 5.

The theme is The Giving Gardener (who wishes to grow). See below for further information:

Her thumb is green, yet her garden is bare. The Giving Gardener offers her seeds, tools, and time to those in need, and as a result, her own garden falls into disarray. The weeds grow wild and the flowers falter and fail, but when she asks for help, no one returns her kindness. Unaccompanied and untamed, the Giving Gardener learns to first give to herself and cultivate her own garden before sharing the fruits of her labour with others. Only then does her garden begin to grow.

The stories must be submitted through our Google form (click the Submit button at the end of this page). Please read the guidelines below before submitting your work.

1- Original work

Here at Mad Persona, we frown on plagiarism. Please do not submit work that is not your own. You are allowed to submit work that has been submitted for a class but not any work that has already been previously published or generated by AI.

2- Grammar

Make sure to review your work before submitting so our editing process can be done smoothly, taking into account the quality of your writing rather than just grammatical mistakes.

3- Propriety

We do not accept any submissions that contain: explicit images, pornography, smut, sexual violence, or racism. We will reject any work that we deem inappropriate.

4- Formatting

Make sure to format your work in a docx or pdf document. Add your name, email, and any contact information you feel comfortable sharing.
We do not adhere to any specific formatting standard when taking in submissions as long as it is a typed document in the formats listed above.
We do accept simultaneous submissions. We do accept submissions that contain a mixture of media (poetry and art, or poetry and short story).

5 – Rights

Accepted submissions will not receive monetary compensation at this time.
Mad Persona Magazine retains publishing rights for 6 months after the publication date, meaning the work cannot be published elsewhere. After 6 months is up, it can be published anywhere as long as acknowledgments are given to our magazine.
